From idea to execution in no time

Intercargo recognized the need to optimize their manual processes, which were routine-heavy and time-consuming. Identifying these challenges led them to ECIT, who was already serving as their external IT department. ECIT introduced robotic technology as a possible solution, marking an expansion of their partnership.

“We had a lot of manual and time-consuming processes, and routine-heavy task, that were just waiting to be optimized through technology.” – Lone Hjorth Rasmussen (System Specialist & Analyst, Intercargo Scandinavia A/S).

Together, ECIT and Intercargo have built a strong foundation for a valuable collaboration, based on open and constructive dialogue, where ECIT offers tailored, forward-thinking solutions to meet Intercargo’s needs.

“ECIT is always suggesting solutions based on our specific needs as a company. Their consultants have a remarkable ability to understand our challenges and adjust the solutions to our organization and that is extremely valuable for us. We have a good dialogue – and I’ve never heard them say “we can’t do that”. In general, they execute on our ideas in no time, and they always make sure that we are part of the whole process – and that ensures both transparency and a sense of security.” – Lone Hjorth Rasmussen (System Specialist & Analyst, Intercargo Scandinavia A/S).

ECIT’s role as Intercargo’s external IT department, combined with their deep understanding of the company’s needs, has contributed to efficient and seamless processes.

“Our existing knowledge and understanding of Intercargo’s IT infrastructure has been an important factor when implementing digital assistants in their work processes. It is a big help that everything is placed in our own secure data center – and that we have a good partnership with a dialogue that makes it easy to integrate new solutions with smooth transitions.” – Kasper Vestergaard Brockhoff, RPA Teamlead, ECIT Automate.

Maximizing time efficiency and delivering added value

Intercargo’s daily operations involve extensive hours of transport, with their fleet of trucks running fixed routes across Europe. There are many variables involved in the transportation, including ferry crossings, fuel prices, and continuous registrations, all of which require extensive manual data entry and multiple approval flows in the transport system *Transpas.

With four robots smoothly integrated into Intercargo’s existing processes these tasks are now automized and optimized to an extent that makes a valuable difference in their everyday work saving both time and resources. The robots currently in use deliver varying time savings – from one full workday per month to daily or weekly reductions ranging from 15 minutes to several hours.

The robots also minimize errors, eliminating person-based tasks and making use of all the hours of the day. This gives both flexibility and security.

”We take advantage of the fact that the robots can work during the night. We can initiate something before going home from work one day and then it will be ready for the next step in the process when we get back the next morning. This makes us way more efficient in our workflows creating a great deal of value.” – Lone Hjorth Rasmussen (System Specialist & Analyst, Intercargo Scandinavia A/S).

This highlights the meaningful shift the automation has brought to Intercargo’s operations.

“We have created a digital assistant that works automatically liberating Intercargo from surveilling the process manually. This results in efficiency and frees up time to focus on more value-creating tasks.” – Kasper Vestergaard Brockhoff, RPA Teamlead, ECIT Automate.

Summed up, the partnership between ECIT and Intercargo has significantly improved Intercargo’s processes and operational capacity, while also freeing up valuable time and resources that can instead be invested in their core business. With a focus on value-creating initiatives, efficiency, error-free operations and user needs, the collaboration has created an important foundation for future growth and development.

This collaboration model demonstrates how technological innovation can transform work processes and deliver measurable benefits across industries.
